This year the fun of SGP's Summer Social will be SOUTH OF THE BORDER THEMED.  The evening will also feature the annual Firefly Night to help engage children and enjoy the park past dusk.  This is a members only event and a chance to get to know more people who make our park so special.  

For the FIREFLY NIGHT come with your net or borrow one from the park and chase the fireflies into the night. This is a strictly catch and release program, so breathable containers are welcome, but not necessary.

Enter the MAKE IT SPECIAL MARGARITA contest or the GUAC OFF/SALSA SHOWCASE to showcase your culinary abilities and earn volunteer hours. A winner from each will be announced after a vote and the recipe and photos will appear in the next SPARK newsletter.  Each entrant should bring 2 pitchers/gallons of your specialty margarita to earn 4 volunteer hours OR one large bowl (approx. 4 cups) of a unique guacamole (2 hours) or salsa recipe (1 hour).  Please drop off the entry form (available soon in the park office) by 7/17 & drop off the cocktails and guacamole, labeled with your name & recipe name, at the park between 5:30 and 6:30PM on 7/19.  

We are also calling for specialty bite-sized appetizers and desserts. Nothing that needs utensils. Examples could be lemon bars, mini cheesecake bites, crostinis, filo pastries, cheese puffs, mini brownie bars. Each recipe should be 2 trays or platters (~60 pieces each) to earn 2 volunteer hours. Please label the recipe & drop it off at the park between 5:30 and 6:30PM on 7/19.

Volunteers needed on the day of the event (July 19th) for set up, serving and selling food and cleanup.  We are also in need of older kids and teenagers to help lead activities on the ball field during FIREFLY NIGHT activities.  To volunteer, please click here.
